December Birchbox

Yesterday I received my Birchbox. I was really excited for this month's box for two reasons: 1) last month's was awesome and 2) I was hoping they would have some really awesome products for Christmas. Instead of being overly excited, I was absolutely disappointed.

This month's box was cute with the snowflakes on the outside and the gorgeous tissue paper on the inside. However, when I opened the tissue paper I found that the oil included in my box had leaked EVERYWHERE.

The theme this month was Frolic & Fancy, but I would completely disagree. I was very disappointed in the products Birchbox chose this month.

1/ Benefit The POREfessional Primer
Full Price: $29 for 0.75 fl oz.

I haven't tried this product yet, but I'm excited too. Until a couple months ago, I had never used a primer or much foundation. But when I received the Laura Geller Spackle in a previous Birchbox, that all changed. I wasn't too impressed with that product after giving it a fair test run, so I'm hoping the results with this Benefit product will be better.

2/ Olie Biologique Huile Moderne
Full Price: $58 for 30mL

I have absolutely no interest in trying this product. This is the oil sample that leaked all over my box this month. The tissue paper was soaked and just an absolute mess. I don't know what Birchbox loves about oils (I've gotten an Orofluido one too), but I just don't see it. This sample in my opinion was a total waste and there's no way I would ever pay $58 for something like this.

3/ Harvey Prince - Yogini perfume
Full Price: $55 for 50mL or $26 for 8.8mL

Lately, I've been really into trying new perfumes. My new favourites include Tocca Stella, Marc Jacobs Daisy, and a few others. If you are familiar with any of those fragrances you know that they are all fruity and floral. This Harvey Prince perfume falls into that category as well since it has notes of grapefruit which makes it lovely when you first spritz it. However, after it sits for awhile, the notes of sandalwood come through and it's a bit too musky for me.

4/ Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss - in Birchbox Pink
Full Price: $20 for 0.21 oz

For me, this Jouer brand is a repeat but that's totally okay with me! In my September box I received their lip enhancer and it was wonderful. This lip gloss is even better! When I first saw this bright fuschia color, I freaked out. It looks so dark but it's a really sheer pink color that looks absolutely wonderful! And the formula of the lip gloss is one that I've never had before. Normally I don't use lip glosses because they're always sticky and gross. This lip gloss is totally different. It smells great, looks wonderful, and goes on smoothly. Plus, this color was created exclusively for Birchbox. I will definitely be ordering a full size!

EXTRAS/ Show Stoppers Tape and EBOOST Energy Drink

Also, in my box I received two extras that I will not be using. The first being Show Stoppers fashion tape. It is used for hemming pants or skirts, or to keep a party dress in place. I have absolutely no use for this in any way. I don't plan on wearing any dressed in this winter weather.

The other extras was an EBOOST energy drink. It claims to be a "natural" energy booster but I just can't stand behind that. I've never been a fan of energy shots or the drinks so I won't be trying this whatsoever.

TO CANCEL OR NOT TO CANCEL? THAT IS THE QUESTION.
** Like I said in the beginning of this post, I was very disappointed with the products this month. I was considering cancelling my subscription until last month blew me out of the water! I LOVED the BaubleBar bracelet and have actually ordered 3 more pieces from their website. I decided not to cancel my Birchbox subscription and I'm not sure what I was thinking. This month's box was a waste of $10. The Jouer lip gloss was the only product I really loved! I have heard of a lot of other bloggers switching to MyGlam and I'm not sure if I want to do that quite yet. I think I'll give Birchbox until February. Maybe the New Year will bring some new changes for them. I'll wait and see and keep you all updated!
